Swedish 470 Teams Confirmed for Olympics

Astrid Gabrielsson/Lisa Ericson in the 470 women and Anton Dahlberg /Sebastien Ostling in the 470 men were today confirmed as the Swedish representatives to the 2012 Olympic Sailing Competition. Their selection was announced together with teammates in the Laser Radial, Star and Women's matchracing.

Astrid Gabrielsson/Lisa Ericson will be making their debut Olympic appearance in 2012, and recently finished 16th at the Perth Worlds. With a world ranking of #27 the pair have been sailing together for many years, and competed through the junior 470 fleets, including securing the bronze medal at the 2008 470 Junior World Championships.

After finishing eleventh at the Perth 2011 ISAF Sailing World Championships, the first Olympic qualification event, Dahlberg/Ostling had safely secured Sweden a place on the start line in the 470 Men event – the next step was to be confirmed as the team. The Perth result marked the best World Championship finish for the pair who carry a world ranking of #19 and a fantastic result to build on in the months counting down to Weymouth.
