JAPANESE TEAMS WIN 2018 ASIAN GAMES31 Aug 2018
The final day of the 2018 Asian Games Sailing Competition dawned with a bright sunshine and the 12 Kts of wind in the Jakarta Bay greeted the 144 sailors who were hoping to close out this event on a positive not. For some the medals were almost guaranteed bar exceptional circumstances and some hung finely balanced and getting the final race today would be the last opportunity for certain sailors.
The race management team have been excellent all week and they worked hard to make the most of the day’s opportunities. The races started exactly on schedule.
In the 470 Men, the Gold goes to Japan’s TETSUYA ISOZAKI and AKIRA TAKAYANAGI, the Silver goes to China’s WANG CHAO and XU ZANGJUN and the Bronze to Thailand’s NAVEE THAMSOONTORN and NUT BUTMARASRI.
In the 470 Women, Japan’s AI YOSHIDA and MIHO YOSHIOKA won the Gold with WEI MENXI and GAO HAIYAN winning the Silver and Malaysia’s JAMIL NURAISYAH and MOHAMAD SAYED NORASHIKIN won the Bronze medal.
The Asian Sailing Federation would like to thank Indonesia Sailing Federation, the Indonesian Asian Games Organising Committee, the Olympic Council of Asia and their supporters and partners for hosting such a fantastic event run by a dedicated team of officials and volunteers.
