Italian Olympic Classes Championships

Four intense days of racing and a scoreline of all top four finishes was more than enough for Croatia’s Sime Fantela/Igor Marenic to sweep aware the challenges from the 32 boat fleet at Italy’s pinnacle Olympic sailing event which wrapped up on Sunday 16 September. 2013 marked the 20th Anniversary of the Italian Olympic Classes Championship, hosted at Circolo Nautico Loano.

Sunday’s final day was a tough one, with the breeze gusting up to 30 knots and big waves, a complete contrast to Saturday when the wind never got over 10 knots.

The overall Champions' crown however can only go to an Italian team, and Matteo Capurro/Matteo Puppo claimed that. A just reward after stunning early performances at both the 470 Junior Worlds and 470 Junior Europeans earlier in the summer, converted to ultimate finishes off the podium. In the 470 Women, victory to Francesca Komatar/Sveva Carraro who finished in 8th overall and were top women.
