INDIAN NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP DECIDES TEAMS HEADING TO 470 WORLDS30 May 2017
The 2017 470 Indian National Championships held in Mumbai from 24-28 May was one of the criteria to decide the teams who will represent India at this year's 470 Worlds in Thessaloniki, Greece.
Nine teams contested the ten race series, which was held concurrently with the 420 National Championships.
There were no surprises in the 470 fleet as veteran PP Muthu and crew SC Singha sailed to victory with a scorecard of 5 first places. The pair quashed the challenge of another experienced pair, Ayaz Shaikh and Shubham Patel, who comfortably secured the runners up spot. Both these 470 teams will be part of the Indian line-up heading Europe to participate in the 470 World Championships, supported by the Yachting Association of India.
