Finland's Lindgren Brothers Confirmed on Olympic Startline
25 May 2012The Finnish Olympic Committee Board of Directors announced on 24 May the 11 sailors that will compete at the London 2012 Olympic Sailing Competition.
The Finnish Sailing Team will be the second largest team of athletes from Finland behind their athletics team.
At the 2011 ISAF Sailing World Championships Finland earned six Olympic spots before sealing their seventh in the Women's Match Racing qualification regatta.
The team is as follows:
Mattias Lindfors (Laser )
Sari Multala (Laser Radial)
Tapio Nirkko (Finn)
Tuuli Petäjä (Women's RS: X)
Silja Lehtinen, Silja Kanerva and Mikaela Wulff (Women's Match Race)
Lauri Lehtinen and Kalle Bask (49er)
Joonas Lindgren and Niklas Lindgren (470)
"The development of different boat classes has continued to develop favourably," said Olympic Committee Coaching Director Kari Niemi-Nikkola. "The whole team is strong and in tune with Beijing's young team. All are viable candidates for a success in London."
