CHINESE SCORE TICKETS TO PARIS 2024 AT ASIAN SAILING CHAMPIONSHIPS
19 Dec 2023The qualifying event for the Paris 2024 Olympics, Asian Sailing Championships 2023 & Continental Paris 2024 Qualifier, taking place in Pattaya, Thailand saw an intense competition in the 470 mixed class ending up with the Chinese teams to rule all podium positions with the winning team to be Ming Xu / Yahan Tu.
The Chinese on the last day were already lined up for all three medals. Malaysia could grab the bronze as Muhammad Fauzi Bin Kaman Shah / Juni Karimah Binti Noor Jamali duo were only two points behind the third-placed team, nevertheless finishing one place before last in the medal race let the Korean team to move to the fourth place and the Malaysian one to finish the championship in the fifth place.
The 2023 Asian Sailing Championship and Asian qualifier for Paris 2024 is organized by the Yacht Racing Association of Thailand and the Royal Thai Navy, with the support of World Sailing and the Asian Sailing Federation. Sponsors include the Sports Authority of Thailand, Chonburi Province, and Pattaya City. The event is being staged at the Royal Varuna Yacht Club in Pattaya, Thailand, which also hosted the ILCA Asian and Oceanian Championship and the ILCA Master Worlds Championships in the past year.
