Ballkan Sailing Championships Wraps up in Macedonia

Held in Macedonia from 2-8 September 2013, the Balkan Sailing Championships attracted teams from Bulgaria, Macedonia, Romania and Turkey. The predominant light winds cut short the 470 racing programme, with just 5 races held in shifty conditions, and one discard kicking in for the open 470 fleet. Close racing at the front of the fleet, but with an all top-three scoreline a second place in the final race was enough to give victory to Romania’s Bujor Rosca/Miha Fagarasan by 1 point over Sergen Birinciogul/Emre Hasbay (TUR), with Beste Kaynakci/Simge Serim (TUR) in third. The top placed women’s team were Bulgaria’s Yana Markova/Ina Ilieva in fourth.

Racing was also held for the Finn, Laser, Laser Radial, Laser 4.7, Optimist and RSX.

The 2014 Balkan Sailing Championships will be hosted in Romania during the first week of September.
