600 ATHLETES FROM 11 COUNTRIES IN 28th ATHENS INTERNATIONAL SAILING WEEK
01 Mar 201828th Athens International Sailing Week, Eurolymp, will take place from 2nd to 8th March in the Saronic Gulf with the participation of around 600 athletes from 11 countries. These are Ukraine, Switzerland, Germany, Sweden, Hungary, Cyprus, Turkey, Malaysia, Croatia, Slovakia and, of course, Greece.
Mr. Dimitrakopoulos, president of the Hellenic Sailing Federation (E.I.O.), referred to the difficulties of the event and considered it "a great success with the participation of so many foreign athletes", many of whom will come to race for the first time in " Athens International Sailing Center". According to the president of EIO, "in the first three months of its operation, the Center has hosted 11 national teams of sailors and the federation is waiting for many more from around the world.
EUROLYMP is organized by the Hellenic Sailing Federation in partnership with six Yacht Clubs in Athens area.
Athens Sailing Week will run in two phases. In the first phase from Friday March 2 to Sunday March 4 the races of the International categories Opimist, 420, Laser 4.7 and Techno will be held while from Sunday 4th to Thursday 8th the Olympic classes will start, which will also be a qualification for the formation of the national teams. These include the Olympic and Paralympic categories namely 470 Men-Women, Laser Standard, Laser Radial, RSX Men-Women, Hansa 2.3 – 303 και 2.4 mr.
