470 North Americans go to Haeger/Provancha and Factor/Wefer

The USA's Anne Haeger/Briana Provancha  in the 470 Women and Jordan Factor/Matthew Wefer picked up the 470 North American Championship titles on Monday 20 January 2014. With a poor forecast, the prospects for racing were low, but enough wind filled in for exciting races.

Pierre Leboucher and Nicolas Le Berre (FRA) came good in the Men's 470 and took the title ahead of Croatia's Sime Fantela and Igor Marenic. The pair had fought hard all week but having discarded a black flag, the Croatians counted a 13th in the opening race and finished six points behind the French. Italy's Simon Sivitz Kosuta and Jas Farneti took bronze.

There were French winners also in the Women's 470 in the form of Camille Lecointre and Helene Defrance. A consistent week that was only blighted by a discarded black flag handed them the title ahead of Anne Haeger and Briana Provancha (USA) in silver and Great Britain's Sophie Weguelin and Eilidh McIntyre in bronze.

As the top placed USA 470 Men team, 470 North American Championship victory to Jordan Factor/Matthew Wefer who finished in 13th overall and in the 470 Women to the USA's Anne Haeger/Briana Provancha who finished in second overall.
