470 North American Championships

Wins to Austria in the 470 Men and 470 Women North Americans which wrapped up on Sunday 20 January at the Coconut Grove Sailing Club. Held in advance of ISAF Sailing World Cup Miami, and sailed out of Coconut Grove Sailing Club, the teams got a taste of what's to come ahead of next week’s 200-point regatta.

Light winds featured throughout the weekend but that didn't falter Austria's Matthias Schmid/Florian Reichstadter in the Men's 470 as they put in a dominate display, winning three of seven races ahead of America's Adam Roberts/Erik Storck. Another Austrian pairing finished third, with David Bargehr/Lucas Mahr just 2 points behind the Americans.

Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games gold medallist Lara Vadlau, sailing with Jolanta Ogar (AUT), also impressed in the Women's 470, winning four of seven races. Finishing in second place, just 3 points behind were the USA’s Sydney Bolger/Carly Shevitz , with Anne Haeger.Briana Provancha (USA) in third.

Vadlau, who represented Austria at the 2012 Olympics, paired up with Jolanta Ogar who represented Poland at the 2012 Olympics in October 2012, in a new combination to represent Austria. Nice result for their first event of 2013.
