2016 ATHENS EUROLYMP WIN TO MANTIS/KAGIALIS
25 Apr 2016Racing in a mixed fleet of men and women, thirteen teams from Greece and Malaysia checked in on Athens Eurolymp Week for the eleven race series, which also marked the 2016 Greek 470 National Championships.
Hosted at Piraeus Sailing Club from 18-22 April, racing was mainly dominated by lighter breezes.
Panagotis Mantis/Pavlos Kagialis easily walked away with the title, racking up eight wins, to seal victory without needing to finish the final race 11. The pair were announced as Greece’s representatives to Rio 2016 after their performance at the 2016 470 Europeans earlier this month, so no surprise to see them headlining their National Championships.
Stepping up to seize second place were Vasileios Papoutsoglou/Ioannis Orfanos, with top placed women’s team and third overall to Maria Bozi/Rafailina Klonaridou.
Racing continues for the Junior fleets from 24-27 April 2016.
