A CHALLENGING THIRD DAY IN THE 2023 JUNIOR WORLDS

The third racing day of the 470 Junior World Championships in Nida Lithuania was full of challenges. Wind was only enough for one race followed by rain, forcing the Race Committee to call off the day.

Weather challenges will continue for tomorrow’s races expecting gusts up to 35 knots. Therefore the RC’s intention is to start the races early in the morning.
 
With six races completed in a fleet of 39 boats from 18 nations, the French current Junior World and European champions are looking unstoppable. Matisse Pacaud and Lucie De Gennes are leading the fleet with 16 points margin from the Israeli team Roy Levi and Ariel Gal and 18 points from the 3rd duo of Manon Pennaneach and Pierre Williot from France. Poland and Turkey are following in close range. The Israeli team Roy Levi and Ariel Gal are leading comfortably in the U21 category.
 
We are also witnessing remarkable improvement from the Swedes Hedvig and Hugo Liljegren currently in 6th place, the Ukrainian Yehor Samarin and Yelyzaveta Vasylenko in 8th and the Norwegian Julia Jacobsen and Emil Forslund in 12th and 3rd in U21 category in a tight battle with the French Lomane Vanade and Julien Bunel 11th &  2nd in U21 as well as the Spanish Neus Ballester Bover and Jaime Wizner 13th and 4th U21.
 
The next two days will be decisive as there are many teams with significant chances to win a place in the podium. The medal race is scheduled for Sunday, the last day of racing.
