470 ICA SUPPORT PROGRAMS FOR 2024
Since 2006, the 470 International Class has been prioritizing commitment to support young athletes and emerging nations through its development and support activities. Please find the 2024 support program below.
Equipment Support Programs
Mixed teams from designated emerging nations will have the opportunity to purchase new 470 equipment (sails and spars) from partner manufacturers at discounted rates. A “470 International Class Official Discount Voucher” will be offered from the Class. Moreover, second-hand equipment will be available for free through the Class’ “You Can Help! Donation Program.” For those wishing to donate equipment, simply send an e-mail to solidarity@470.org outlining the equipment you wish to donate and then bring it with you to a major event this year. The Class will quickly arrange delivery of the equipment to the sailors who need it most.
470 Event Participation Support program
Mixed teams (senior and junior) from emerging nations will be supported at 470 class events with free coaching and low-cost charter boat options. Additional support — such as free entry fees — may be granted to certain cases.
470 Training camps for teams & coaches
Training camps for athletes and coaches from emerging nations will be scheduled upon request as long as attendance minimums are met.
