World Sailing has announced the finalists for the 2025 World Sailing Annual Awards and our 470 World Champions are among them!
The 2025 470 German National Championship wrapped up on Sunday, October 5 at the Schaumburg-Lippischer Seglerverein e.V. (SLSV), following four days of highly competitive and technically demanding racing on Lake Steinhude.
In Puck, during the third stage of the Polish Championships, a new race format for the 470 class was tested. Short, intense and dynamic courses energized the fleet and clearly shifted the priorities in sailing. Competitors had to focus on different aspects than before. Each day the format was changed.
The 2025 470 US National Championship, hosted by Carlyle Sailing Association (CSA) on September 19-21, had three challenging days of racing. The regatta was mostly light and shifty, classic Lake Carlyle conditions.
The final day of the Persson Marine All Japan 470 Championship 2025 concluded in Enoshima with three races sailed in steady 9–12 knot conditions. Rising to the challenge, Tetsuya Isozaki / Yurie Seki (JPN22 Racing) delivered a strong performance in the gold fleet finals, sealing their first-ever championship title as a team.
On Friday, 29 August 2025, the Fireball World Championship concluded at Circolo Vela Arco on Italy’s Lake Garda, with a record-breaking fleet of 136 boats from 14 nations competing across nine races under a variety of challenging wind conditions.
On August 13-16, 2025, the Long Island Maritime Museum in West Sayville, NY hosted the 470 North American Championship. There were 10 boats including three from Canada. Over four days of racing, competitors saw a variety of racing conditions.
The dates and venues are now confirmed for the two major junior events in 2026.
