OLYMPIC EQUIPMENT QUALITY SURVEY AND EQUIPMENT MANIPULATION HOTLINE

23 Jan 2023

At the 2022 mid-year meeting, World Sailing's Council directed World Sailing to address concerns around the quality and cost of Olympic equipment.

At the 2022 Annual Conference, World Sailing Committees and Council noted a number of recommendations contained in this report: LINK

World Sailing is now reaching out to the different groups affected within the sailing community, asking Athletes, Coaches, International Measurers, Manufacturers, Class representatives, Equipment Committee members and event organisers to complete a survey with the objective to:

1)     help World Sailing define the current state,
2)     validate proposals and priorities, and;
3)     establish benchmarks to allow the evaluation of progress.

Since this survey will be used to evaluate the technical state of the current Olympic Classes including the 470, it is of great importance for the 470 class that you complete the survey and give your opinion at least for the 470 class equipment. You may do so easily by using the following link. Participation is anonymous and your identity cannot be traced.

In addition, World Sailing is launching an Equipment Manipulation Hotline providing a confidential platform to report suspicious approaches or activities related to equipment manipulation enhancements not permitted by the rules. Please use it for reporting any case of illegal (or illegally modified) equipment in our class that you are aware of.
