ISAF Athletes Commission Launch New Website - SailorVoice.org

The ISAF Athletes’ Commission consists of 11 members each nominated by the sailors in their Olympic Class. The Athletes’ Commission role is to establish a communication link between the sailors in the Olympic Classes and sailing’s governing body, the International Sailing Federation (ISAF).

To help the Athletes’ Commission better communicate with the sailors, a new dedicated website has been developed at www.sailorvoice.org with information about the ISAF Athletes’ Commission, London 2012, Events, News, Classes, useful links and most importantly a forum where you can have your say. New topics will be posted regularly so keep checking the site for new information, meeting notes, hero stories and more.

The chair of the ISAF Athletes’ Commission, Marcelien de Koning, said, “There are currently many exciting changes about to happen within the sport. We need input from the sailors to make things perfect! We have set up this new website to enable sailors to have their say direct to us so please tell us what you want to happen.”

“We especially want feedback on the ISAF World Cup, how you think Olympic sailing should look by 2020 and we want to know who you think the hero is in your class and why.”

Help us to promote the sport by building heroes that the media can follow and that youngsters can aspire to. Our goal is to make sailing one of the world’s highest profile sports.

The ISAF Athletes’ Commission is being re-elected in early June to serve the term 2009-2013. Candidates have been nominated to represent each of the ten Olympic events, with each Olympic event allowed one representative. The 470 sailors running for election are 470 men - Malcolm Page (AUS) and 470 women - Erin Maxwell (USA) and Marcelien de Koning (NED)
