ITALY'S GIACOMO FERRARI/GIULIO CALABRO WIN 470 NORTH AMERICANS
17 Jan 2017A fiercely fought play off for the podium at the 2017 470 North American Championship, 14016 January 2016 hosted at Coconut Grove Sailing Club, Miami, pitched Italy's young pairing of Giacomo Ferrari/Giulio Calabro to victory.
The Italians, who last year won the 470 Junior European Championships, will be delighted to kick off their 2017 season with a win against far more experienced teams, pushing Olympic helms Matthais Schmid of Austria and Jordi Xammar of Spain to battle it out for the remaining podium places.
Top American pairing in 8th place, were the recently crowned Youth Sailing World Champions in the 420 Class, Wiley Rogers and Jack Parkin, with the top placed women's team going to Afrodite Zegers/Anneloes van Veen (NED) in 9th overall.
