WORLD SAILING RANKINGS RELEASED WITH DUTCH AND AUSSIES OUT ON TOP

17 Mar 2017

The latest release of the World Sailing Rankings were released on Monday 13 March 2017.

NEXT Rankings Release 3 May 2017

Afrodite Zegers/Anneloes van Veen maintain their control at the top of the 470 Women World Rankings, having ascended to world #1 on 30 January 2017 after wins at the 470 North American Championship and Sailing World Cup Miami. The pair made it three in a row with a win at the Carnival Race in Italy in mid-February and now hold a 53 point advantage. Up to world #2 are Lara Vadlau/Jola Ogar (AUT), with Carrie Smith/Jaime Ryan (AUS) making their first ever appearance in the world’s top three at #3.

Fernanda Oliveira/Ana Luiz Barbachan (BRA) bounce back to the top ten at #7 after wins at both Copa Brazil de Vela and the 470 South American Championships in early March.

Behind there is some jiggling around of positions due to the rolling nature of the rankings, and France’s Cassandre Blandin/Aloise Retornaz step up to #10, a career best for the pair, whilst Spain’s Barbara Cornudella/Sara Lopez drop from #10 to #11.

In the 470 Men, no change in the world’s top 7 teams, led by Mat Belcher/Will Ryan (AUS) as world #1. Germany’s Ferdinand Gerz/Oliver Szymanski step up to #8 from #9, with two new teams breaking into the world’s top ten in the shape of Austria’s Matthias Schmid/Florian Reichstadter, and making their first ever appearance inside the world’s top ten are China’s Hao Lan/Chao Wang at #10.
