Victory to Israel and Sweden in Perth
For the eight Olympic events competing at the Perth International Regatta, 16-21 November 2010, the winds did not deliver the punch that Fremantle is renowned for, but the event did provide a preview of what may occur at the 2011 ISAF Combined Worlds to be held at the venue in a year's time. With only four races and the medal race, it was a challenging event for competitors and race management teams.

The British dominated the event, claiming triple the top five positions than any other country. The Olympic focus now moves to Sail Melbourne, 12-18 December 2010, the first regatta of the seven event 2010-2011 ISAF Sailing World Cup series.
The Men's 470 gold medal was won by Gideon Kliger and Eran Sela from Israel. Great Britain finished in second and third places with Nic Asher and Elliot Willis followed by Luke Patience and Stuart Bithell. Kliger said that he and Sela were hoping to stay in Fremantle for another two or three weeks to get in some extra training in the local conditions ahead of next year's ISAF Sailing World Championships.
Sweden won the Women's 470 with Lisa Ericson and Astrid Gabrielsson, who finished ahead of Ingrid Petitjean and Nadège Douroux of France and Denmark's Henriette Koch and Lene Sommer.
Sailing back to the boat park, winning Swedish skipper Lisa Ericson said, "it was absolutely fabulous to win and we are so happy to be able to come back next year."

Early series leaders, Jo Aleh and Olivia Powrie went into the medal race lying in the gold medal position, but a disappointing eighth position landed them with double points of 16 and knocked them out of contention. After such dominace early on, with two bullets on the opening day, this pair will be questionning what went wrong.
The final Medal Races were sailed close in to the Fremantle shoreline, with spectators on the beaches and breakwaters getting a grandstand view of the starts and finishes. This will also be the case in next year's ISAF Sailing World Championships in Perth.
The weather on the last day of the regatta ranged from light to moderate winds under a cloudy sky with occasional rain showers.
