The skipper is not only looking for a new podium, as the one he conquered earlier this month in the Junior Worlds, He wants Gold. In today’s races they were 3rd and 10th and, for the first time in the final series, they sailed in front of the Greek Nikolaos Brilakis and Nikolaos Georgakopoulos (Piraeus Sailing Club). The Germans get to the medal race with a  tiny advantage of 2 points (42 to 44 of the Greeks). Anything may happen tomorrow in the Medal race, where the score is double.

‘Provided we don’t do something stupid’, said the crew Eichhorst, ‘we have to watch the Greeks’. The ‘Nikos’, as regular as usual, were not so lucky today with 14 knots of wind and finished their races 6th and 15th, discarding the last race for their overall results.

The German noted that there are some other boats with options. ‘The fight is still close, all of us want to get the Gold and our strongest card is our consistency. Who are we going to watch in the Medal Race?, the Greek for sure, but there are some other that can get Gold.’

In the Womens fleet, Theres Dahnke y Birte Winkel (Plauer Wassersportverein e.V./Schweriner-Yachtclub) are unreachable. They have been first in the two races of today, adding nine victories out of eleven. Their fellow country sailors, Luise and Helena Wanser (Nordtdeutscher Regatta Verein) finished 5th and 2nd today and are 2nd in the overall results, eleven points behind the leaders.

Vita Heathcote and Ryan Orr have passed the leadership of the Mixed category to the Italians Andrea Totis (LNI Mandello) and Alice Linussi (Società Velica di Barcola e Grignano), who finished 2nd and 3rd today and are the new leaders with 52 points, ahead of the Brits with 67 points in the overall after finishing today 9th and 11th.
