Shifty Conditions on Day 2 at Semaine Olympique Francaise

The medium and shifty wind during the second day of racing in Hyères has brought new leaders in the men's 470 event with Pierre Lebouchera nd Vincent Garos (FRA) pushing themselves to the front. Spain continues to hold the lead in the 470 women. A further three races were held on Sunday for a total of 5 races completed in both fleets so far.

470 Men
The overnight leaders, Greece's Panagiotis Mantis and Pavlos Kagialis (GRE) tumbled off the top sport, the top ten and down to eighteenth overall after a fairly disastrous posting of 22, OCS and 17 today.

French duo Pierre Leboucher and Vincent Garos added two victories to climb to the top of the scoreboard in the 470 men. They are closely followed by Nicolas Charbonnier and Jeremie Mion (FRA) in second while Mathew Belcher and Malcolm Page (AUS) are in third place.

The leaders said, "We are confident with our racing, but we need to keep realistic as we are only half way through the regatta. This is our first selection regatta so, to be in competition is a real motivation."

470 Women
Tara Pacheco and Berta Betanzos (ESP) continued their good form with consistent top four results in the three races held for the Women's 470, posting a 4,2,3 They have an eight point lead over Penny Clark and Katrina Hughes (GBR) and with the discard coming into play on race 5 found themselves discarding a fourth place – not bad.

In third overall were Giulia Conti and Giovanna Micol of Italy who posted a 32, 6, 2 – but were able to discard their opening race of today.

Catching up with Tara and Berta, this was their view on SOF 2011 and their objective:
