Sailors’ and Coaches’ Meeting - 12 June 2009

The 470 European Championships are taking place this week on Lake Traunsee in Austria, where teams from 30 nations are gathered for the first 470 Championships of 2009.

As the 470 Class enters the next Olympic quadrennial, with many experienced sailors and others who are new to the class, a new President and new members of the 470 Management Committee, it is dedicated to working with the sailors, coaches and national class associations to achieve continuing success both for those competing and those involved in the worldwide administration of the class.

To create an open forum for discussion and share ideas for the future, a Sailors’ and Coaches’ Meeting will be held after racing on Friday 12 June, bringing together the sailors, coaches and International 470 Class Management Committee. Discussion topics include feedback on the ISAF Sailing World Cup, future competition formats, development programmes, marketing and media and the creation of a 470 Sailors’ Council.

A follow on meeting will be held at the International 470 Class World Championships and one of the Junior Championships. Reports will be published on the International 470 Class website: www.470.org
