RUSSIAN OLYMPIC CLASS CHAMPIONS CROWNS 470 NATIONAL CHAMPIONS
07 Oct 2014Taking place at FGBI South Sports in Sochi, the Russian Olympic Classes Championships gathered the nation’s top sailors across the Olympic classes from 29 September to 5 October on Russia’s Black Sea coast.
Twenty-eight 470 Men and Women’s teams competed and with Russia having already secured its nation slots to the Rio 2016 Olympic Games at the ISAF Worlds in Santander, it is now all about which teams will match the national selection criteria and be selected to compete in Brazil.
The overall win and 470 Men National Championship title went to Pavel Sozykin/Denis Gribanov after 5 wins from 11 races. Finishing just 2 points behind in 2nd overall and crowned as the 470 Women National Champions were Natalia Ivanova/Nadezhda Gerasimova. Third overall to Alisa Kirilyuk/Dmitrieva Liudmila.
Sitting 14 points off the podium in fourth place were Mikhail Sheremetyev/Maxim Sheremetyev.
