D Flag went up at 13:00 for the 3 fleets. Great sailing conditions in Vilamoura, with Races 8 and 9 sailed under 12/13Knots of wind.

A sunny and warm day in Vilamoura (air temp. 27 C), with excellent breeze, allowed, again, to complete the 2 scheduled races. Sailors where back ashore just past 16:30, leaving plenty of time to enjoy the Portuguese spring.

Paul Snow-Hansen and Jordi Xammar had a day full of action, commented just after racing today:

“It’s good to be back racing, though competition with Jordi” said Paul Snow-Hansen

“I still have 2 days to try to catch the Kiwis which are very strong in this fleet” commented Jordi Xammar.

All races today were sailed with Oscar flag up, allowing extra room for teams to enjoy and test their skills.

In the Men’s fleet the French crew Kevin Peponnet and Jeremie Mion climbed to the 1st place, only separated by 1 point from New Zealanders Paul Snow-Hansen and Dan Willcox, now in 2nd after taking penalty turns on the last leg of Race 9. The 2019 World Champions from Australia Mathew Belcher and Will Ryan kept their 3rd place ahead of Sweden’s Dahlberg / Bergstrom and Xammar Rodriguez from Spain, 2nd and 3rd European teams in the Championship.

Nitai Hasson and Saar Tamir from Israel are still leading the Mixed Fleet but now with a much narrower lead of 4 points over the German Team of Theres Dahnke and Matti Cipra, which scored two excellent 4th places. Vita Heathcote and Ryan Orr from GBR are holding on to the 3rd place, 21 points behind the Germans.

Silvia Mas Depares and Patricia Cantero, the 2021 World Champions, showing why they got the tittle, are still leading the French Team Camille Lecointre and Aloise Retornaz, which lost 1 more point to the leaders and are now 4 points behind.

Linda Fahrni and Maja Siegenthaler from Switzerland sailed very consistently scoring two 3rd places and keeping the 3rd place in the leaderboard.
