MANTIS/KAGIALIS THE WINNERS AT 2018 ATHENS EUROLYMP
12 Mar 201828th Athens International Sailing Week 2018 was concluded on Thursday March 8th for all International, Olympic and Paralympic classes in Faliro bay, Athens, Greece.
In 470 class, 19 teams representing 7 countries raced with a lot of competition throughout this week. Rio’s bronze medallists Takis Mantis/Pavlos Kagialis (GRE) confirmed the title of the favorite team and won the gold medal. Followed by Vassilis Papoutsoglou/Ioannis Orfanos (GRE) and Anton Danhlberg/Fredrik Bergstrom from Sweden. Maria Bozi/Rafailina Clonaridou stood out for Women and came fourth overall.
"The weather this week was a tough call. There were excellent races and for us it was very good that the Swedish team participated. It is a pleasure for us to see that athletes from several countries took part in the event and we wish this number to increase next year. On the other hand, the positive thing is that there is a nursery of excellent young athletes who show that they are at a good level and this is very promising for the future of the class. We are pleased with our performance. We have worked on a lot of technical points and this will help us in our forthcoming international races, " said Makis Orologas, coach of the Greek Olympians at welovesports.gr
