JAPAN WILL HOST 2019 470 CLASS WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP

25 Oct 2018

After long discussions and negotiations with the Japanese 470 Class, a decision has finally been reached and the 2019 470 class World
Championship will take place at the Olympic waters of Enoshima from August 2nd – 9th, 2019.

The waters of Sagami Bay will be filled with the world's top 470 sailors next August from Aug 2nd to September 1st 2019. The 470 Worlds starting date is scheduled two weeks before the 2019 Olympic Test event which will be held in the same waters from August 15th - 22nd, followed by the 2020 World Cup Series Round 1 event (August 25th – September 1st).

The 470 class is one of the most popular sailing classes in Japan with more that 60 events organized  per year for Intercollegiate, training and national events. One of the most popular international regattas in Japan is Enoshima Olympic Week, which is also a part of ASAF Sailing Cup.

470 teams will begin to arrive by mid July to start training for the regatta and the pre-Olympic year as part of their ongoing testing of waters and equipment in Tokyo 2020 Olympic waters.

The 2019 Worlds website will be live soon. Useful Information about shipping of equipment to Japan after the 2019 470 Europeans will be
