Japan moves into the Lead on day 2 at 470 Spring Cup

New Zealand's Jo Aleh and Bianca Barbarich-Bacher continue their roll of form which saw them win the Princess Sofia Regatta to claim a race win in their group in today's only race, race 3, which moves them up into fourth overall. Today's winds were very shifty with constant position changes in the fleets.

Race 3 for the second group got underway and was a fierce battle at the front between Panagiotis Mantis and Pavlos Kagialis (GRE) and Sime Fantela and Igor Marenic (CRO) – eventually won by the Greeks who overtook their rivals just before the finish line to take second, with the Croatians in third. Japan's Ryunosuke Harada and Yugo Yoshida secured the race win.

Right after the finish of both groups a black cloud covered the racing area, bringing some wind and a heavy downpour, before the wind then dropped completely. The Race Committee sent the boats ashore, but with no wind having shown itself by 1800 hours – the wait was over.

So with two day's of racing and three races completed, it is Ryunosuke Harada and Yugo Yoshida (JPN) in first overall, Tetsuya Matsunaga and Kimihiko Imamura (JPN) in second and Mantis and Kagialis (GRE) in third.

The fleet is now split into the gold and silver groups for the final days of racing.
