Day 2 at XXXVth International 470 Spring Cup

Day 2 of the 470 Spring Cup on 15 April saw another perfect sailing day, with 3 races taking place in southerly winds between 10-15 knots and glorious blue skies and sun.

The shifty conditions challenged some, with a few general recalls, OCS and BFDs and of course interesting racing!

The 60 entries represent many of the world's best from around the world - but it is the homegrown teams who so far are proving themselves at the front of the fleet  Pierre Leboucher and Vincent Garos (FRA) have extended their lead, with their only disappointing race an 18 in yesterday's race 4 having been discarded, to sit at the head of the fleet after 5 races. They are followed by Mathew Belcher and Will Ryan (AUS) with Lucas Calabrese and Juan de la Fuente (ARG) in third.

The top place women's teams of Ingrid Petitjean and Nadege Douroux (FRA) in ninth and Jo Aleh and Olivia Powrie (NZL) in eleventh, continue to prove their skills against the men.

According to the weather forecast, it seems that for the first time since the International 470 Spring Cup was created 35 years ago, the famous "Mistral" (cold North-North-West wind blowing 25-30 knots and more) will not put in an appearance during the event.

Racing continues through until Sunday 18 April in Marseille, France.
