Belcher, Page, Kovalenko - Highlights

Having wrapped up an outstanding year, the Australian duo of Mat Belcher and Malcolm Page, with coach Victor Kovalenko reflect on their highlights from the past decade.

Mat Belcher
"Winning 420 World Championship in LaRochelle, France with my brother, Dan; participating in the Sydney Games; winning my first 470 Grade 1 event with Dan; being ranked in the top 10 at the end of the 2003 season, being ranked #1 with Nick Behrens in early 2007 and winning the 2010 470 World Championship."

Malcolm Page
"It's hard to say, really. The opener of the 2001 470 World Championship, for sure. Winning our first 470 World Championship in 2004. This entire year has been one to remember, between the World Championship, the honeymoon, the Farr 40 campaign and the World Cup, it has been amazing."

Victor Kovalenko
"Seeing talented athletes persevere and mature is special. Of course, it is doubly special when both of my teams win Olympic gold medals and winning Olympic gold medals in Sydney. Wow! How can you describe it?"

"2010 has been very special. In one week I celebrated my 60th birthday, my wife's 50th birthday and our 30th anniversary and that was right after Mat and Mal won the 470 World Championship and the World Cup. It has been sensational."
