Australia and USA wrap up wins in Kiel and on World Cup Standings
In the Men’s 470 Mathew Belcher and Malcolm Page (AUS) rounded off their near perfect scorecard with another race win in the 470 Medal Race at Kiel which finished today. Whilst Erin Maxwell and Isabelle Kinsolving Farrar secured the gold medal at Kiel and with it victory on the 2010-2011 ISAF Sailing World Cup Standings - a perfect day.
470 Men
Mathew Belcher and Malcolm Page won seven of nine races throughout the week and delivered an overall 13 points scoreline.
A scoreline of 7 race wins from a 9 race series also delivered Belcher and Page the "Abosolute Trophy" of Kieler Wocher, for achieving the best points score across all the Olympic Classes racing.
Sime Fantela and Igor Marenic (CRO) finished second overall on 44 points, with Greece’s Panagiotis Mantis and Pavlos Kagialis and Panagiotis Kambouridis and Efstathios Papadopoulos tied on 49 points. But Mantis and Kagialis claimed the bronze medal after they finished ahead of their team mates in the Medal Race.
Another solid year for Belcher and Page as they successfully defend the 470 Men World Cup Standings for a second series of the ISAF Sailing World Cup. They convincingly won the 2009-2010 series and have put in a repeat performance. The Australians already had the 2010-2011 World Cup title in their hands prior to competing at Kiel and their superb win in Germany only served to emphasize their superiority over the fleet across the 7 event series.
Second overall in the World Cup Standings goes to Panagiotis Mantis and Pavlos Kagialis of Greece. Their result showcases a significant gain in standings compared to the 2009-2010 series where they finished ninth overall. Ending the series in third are Pierre Leboucher and Vincent Garos (FRA).
14 nations from 5 continents are in the 470 Men top 20 on the ISAF Sailing World Cup Standings.

470 Women
Erin Maxwell and Isabelle Kinsolving Farrar (USA) claimed gold in the Women’s 470 after their second place finish in the Medal Race. Germany’s Tina Lutz and Susann Beucke came second on 32 points and Kathrin Kadelbach and Friederike Belcher (GER) were third on 34 points.
Their win at Kiel delivered victory to Erin Maxwell and Isabelle Kinsolving Farrar (USA) in the 470 Women on the 2010-2011 World Cup Standings, as they climbed from eighth to first place up the standings leaderboard. A massive improvement in success on the ISAF Standings compared to the previous series, although partly as a result of counting points from 5 events in 2010-2011 compared to just three events in 2009-2010. Commented the team after racing today, "The medal race today was puffy and shifty, and we had to play the puffs and shifts while covering GER 21 and GER 61, the teams that we had to beat."
Spain's Tara Pacheco and Berta Betanzos finished second on the 2010-2011 ISAF Sailing World Cup Series, just five points adrift of the Americans. Penny Clark and Katrina Hughes (GBR) had two podium finishes in the 2010-2011 World Cup but sailed in less events than Maxwell and Kinsolving, and wrapped up this series in third on the standings with 65 points.
