ALL EVENT INFORMATION

The clinic will be held over 5 days from 10-14 December. Registration for the 470 Junior Worlds is on 16 December, with racing getting underway on 17 December and the final race day on 22 December.

Qatar was selected as the Junior Worlds Championship venue because it offers great sailing and its geographic location makes it an extremely accessible venue with a particular appeal for competitors coming from Africa, the Middle East and Asia. Racing on clear blue waters in what are expected to be perfect sailing conditions at that time of year, Doha presents all the ingredients for a perfect and very successful Championships.

Clinic Entries
As the number of available boats is limited, there are only ten free spots for the training clinic so hurry up to secure your place. It might be your only chance to train before the Junior Worlds, and have the opportunity to familiarize yourself with the very specific conditions of the Persian Gulf.

Clinic Charter Fees
The Qatar Sailing Federation are providing 10 Ziegelmayer 470s for the clinic - which are available to charter at the price of 400 euro for the whole period. The charter fee must be paid on site at the welcome meeting. Any team that fails to do so, will be excluded from the clinic.

Clinic Coach
Andreas Kosmatopoulos (GRE) is the appointed coach, and he also heads up the official 470 coaching team. Andreas has already hosted several similar clinics in 2009 and 2019, most recently at the 2010 470 Worlds in The Hague and 470 Europeans in Istanbul.

Clinic Schedule
The schedule of the clinic will be confirmed soon, and will include five days of training. Due to the early sunset, the on-water training will end at 1600 hours each day.

Apply to the Clinic
In order to apply, please complete the Application Form and send it to solidarity@470.org by 1 December 2010. You will receive confirmation of your acceptance on the training clinic as soon as possible after 1 December 2010.

When it comes to racing at the Junior Worlds, competitors will be supplied with brand new 470s. All boats will be exactly the same with no changes permitted to the equipment – so when the sailors get in their allocated boats they can be assured of a completely “level playing field”. Only the sailors' skill and sailing ability will secure their performance on the race course. Forty 470 dinghies are being provided by Sport Sails Centre in Poland, with sails provided by Olimpic in Italy. Boat rotation will be implemented across the fleets, which is likely to see the girls' sailing as a single fleet and two fleets for the boys/mixed teams.
