470 TEAMS FROM INDONESIA, MALAYSIA, SINGAPORE AND THAILAND FACE OF AT LANGKAWI INTERNATIONAL REGATTA

Thirteen 470 teams from across Indonesia, Singapore and Thailand joined the Malaysian host nation sailors at the 14th KFC-Langkawi International Regatta Perdana, which also marked event 1 of the Asian Sailing Federation (ASAF) Sailing Cup 2017 from 8-12 February.

Predominantly light winds delivered close and tight racing, with the men and women racing separate fleets.

470 Women
Ten wins assured Malaysia's Nuraisyah Bt Jamil/Norashikin Bt Mohamad Sayed of victory in the women's fleet, with the partnerships only results off first being three second places. A consistent performance from Thailand's Narisara Satta/Nichapa Waiwai gave them a string of second places and two wins, including the Medal Race, to close in second on the leaderboard. Third to Malaysia's Umi Norwahida Bt Sailahuddin/Siti Nur Fatihah Bt Norulakhairi.

470 Men
Thailand's Navee Thamsontorn/Nut Butmarasri scored 7 wins in the 13 races series, as well as winning the Medal Race, to easily scoop up victory over Malaysia's Mohamad Faizal BinNorizan/Ahmad Khairul Hafiz Bin Khmbali, with Singapore's Daniel Ian Toh/Xavier Ng in third.
