470 Sailors Support AC45 Blessing
New Zealand 470 sailors Jo Aleh and Olivia Powrie joined dignitaries and media gathered at Auckland’s Viaduct Harbour this morning, 8 February to officially celebrate the arrival of the spectacular new AC45 which has been seen sailing, usually at great pace, on the Waitemata and Hauraki Gulf over the last couple of weeks.
Jo and Olivia had a key role to play included in a group to bless the new catamaran and were later called up to stage as representatives of the new generation of New Zealand yachting talent.
Women’s 470 pair Jo Aleh and Olivia Powrie were congratulated on their sailing achievements and stood alongside Oracle BMW helm Jimmy Spithill as he explained that the AC45 will become the boat of the ‘Youth Americas Cup’.
