470 E-Times Published GRAB A GREAT READ

Angola headlines November's edition of 470 E-Times, closely followed with a round-up of the other development initiatives held so far in 2010. Our extensive range of support and development programmes have this year reached out to more than 300 sailors from 40 nations, providing vital coaching expertise and financial support.

From the grass roots of 470 sailing to the stars, 470 E-Times examines the amazing year's performance delivered by Mat Belcher/Malcolm Page (AUS) and Lisa Westerhof/Lobke Berkhout (NED) which has rewarded both teams with their nominations for the 2010 ISAF Rolex World Sailor of the Year Awards. We wait with baited breath for Tuesday 9 November 2010 and the Awards Presentation.

We pay tribute to a man close to the hearts of many 470 sailors around the world, renowned coach Victor Kovalenko who celebrated his 60th birthday back in August.

With a full round-up of the 2010 470 Championships, a look ahead to the end of year finale - our “pay and play” 470 Junior World Championships in Doha, Qatar in December 2010 - and the provisional calendar of major events for 2011, the elite and competitive side of 470 sailing is well covered.

Catch up with one of our young 470 teams, Panagiotis Mantis/Paul Kagialis (GRE) who after their win at the 2010 470 Europeans have achieved a personal best on the ISAF Sailing World Rankings, and reflect upon some outstanding results from the top men's and women's teams at the 2009-2010 ISAF Sailing World Cup.

A family sailing dynasty is a bit of an understatement when mentioning the Grael family – with many generations competing on the world stage. We catch up with Torben Grael's daughter, Martine, who last year made the transition from the 420 to the 470 after successfully winning the two-person dinghy gold medal at the 2009 Volvo Youth Sailing ISAF World Championships. Martine is already making a name for herself in the 470 class, together with crew Isabel Swan who as well as collecting a bronze medal at the 2008 Olympic Games turns heads as a well-known Brazilian model.

Together, with some stunning photos and other news from around the 470 world, see what the 470 Class has been up to. Enjoy the 470 E-Times read.
