2020 470 SOUTH AMERICAN CHAMPIONSHIP KICKED OFF IN ARGENTINA
12 Feb 2020The 470 South American Championship began on Tuesday February 11th in Mar Del Plata, Argentina.
This Championship is organized by the Yacht Club Argentino and the Club Náutico Mar del Plata and is also the South America Continental Qualifier Event for the 470 Class Men & Women events for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
With winds from the Northeast that exceeded 20 knots, both fleets ran three races. In 470 Brazilians Geison Dzioubanov and Gustavo Thiesen obtained only three points, winning all the races of the day. They are followed on the podium by their compatriots Ricardo de Castro Paranhos and Rodolfo Binz Streibel. Argentines Fernando Gwozdz and Tomás Dietrich complete the podium.
On Thursday racing will continue in the city of Mar del Plata.
