International 470 Class Support & Development Program 2018-2024

Since 2006, the International 470 Class has made a priority commitment to support young athletes and emerging nations through its Development Programmes.

470 Development has supported 40+ nations around the World

Many athletes benefited by receiving technical expertise and coaching, along with financial support to participate in 470 Class Championships.

The extensive range of 470 Development Programmes has reached out to many nations in the world, through:

  • supporting emerging nations to attend Championships 
  • financial support towards entry fees and charter boats
  • developing sailor racing skills pre-Championship through intensive on-site Clinics and race training
  • daily coaching during Championships
  • Regional Coach and Sailor Clinics

Over the past 12 years, 470 Clinics have been held in:
Angola, Argentina, Belgium, Bulgaria, China, France, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Lithuania, Malaysia, Netherlands, New Zealand, Poland, Qatar, Serbia, Slovenia, South Africa, Spain, Turkey

The combined impact of the 470 Clinics and Support Programmes has benefited athletes from:
Angola, Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, China, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Ecuador, Estonia, France, Germany, Great Britain, Greece, Hong Kong, Hungary, India, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Malaysia, Netherlands, New Zealand, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Qatar, Serbia, Slovenia, South Africa, Spain, Turkey, Ukraine, Uruguay and the USA.

The International 470 Class will continue to support all athletes around the world and help them to fulfil their Olympic dream.

The International 470 Class will organize a clinic prior to the 470 Junior European Championship and the 470 Junior World Championship for up to 25 teams, with additional coaching and support during the Championship for up to 6 teams. Dates as below:

A.1. 470 Junior Europeans Sesimbra Portugal
    Clinics- : -29--th June-2nd July (free of charge)
    Coaching: 3-11 July (free of charge)

A.2. 470 Junior World Bracciano Italy
    Clinics: 15-18 August (free of charge)
    Coaching: 19-26 August (free of charge)

B.1. 470 Junior Support Program - Grant for Teams
Free entry fee to 470 Junior and World Championships for younger teams and other criteria.
B.2. Equipment Support programs
Teams from emerging nations will be supported with specific equipment at 100% or 50% of the cost.
B.3. Junior European and Junior World Participation Support program
Teams from emerging nations will be supported for participating to our events with free of charge coaching and a supplied 470 boat free of charge for the Championship.
B.4 World Championship Support program  - Aarhus.
470 class will support teams and nations in order to participate in the World Championship.
470 Class will run at least three major winter clinic series around the world.

470 Boats will be provided free of charge for emerging nations.

Nations that are willing to have a clinic can apply to the International 470 Class to organize and support it (10 boats minimumparticipation)
C.1. Athens  (October ’18 -  March ‘19) Exact dates will be announced. Various different clinic periods, possibility to store boats and ribs free of charge.
C.2. Barcelona (October ’18 – March ‘19) Exact dates will be announced.
C.3. San Remo (October ’18 – March ‘19) Exact dates will be announced.
C.4. Upon NCA’S request

D.1. Pre-National Championship Clinics and coaching upon NCA request.
Let us know if you are interested to run a 470 clinic & seminar by renowned 470 coaches prior to your National events. (10 boats min participation). Team coaching during the event might be possible free of charge.
D.2. National 470 Clinic and seminars for athletes and coaches upon NCA request.
