The General Assembly of the 470 Internationale, in its annual meeting to be held in Madrid on 16th November 2008, will allocate the organisation and decide the venue of the following Championships:
Junior European Championships for 2010,
Master’s Cup for 2010.
At the same time, the General Assembly will select the potential venues for the following Championships:
World Championships for 2012,
European Championships for 2012,
Junior World Championships for 2011 and 2012,
Junior European Championships for 2011 and 2012,
Master’s Cups for 2011 and 2012.
The final choice of the venues for these 2011 and 2012 Championships will be made by the 2009 General Assembly meeting after the Management Committee organises site inspections and meetings with the selected bidders.
The decisions to be made by the General Assembly on the here above listed Championships (allocation for 2010, selection for 2011 and 2012) will be based on the bids received in due time. According to the bids received at that time, decisions or preferences for the subsequent years might also be considered.
Any affiliated National 470 Class Association interested in organising one of those International Class Championships listed here above is kindly requested to send to the 470 Internationale by 1st October 2008 an official bid including proposals for dates and possible venues, and all relevant information necessary to make a decision.
The bid shall at least include the following information and documents:
1) a letter of candidature duly signed by the President or the Secretary General of the National 470 Class Association, and endorsed by the President of the proposed Organizing Authority; this letter shall specify the Championship(s) and the year(s) for which this organisation is proposed, shall include the preferred dates, as well as the other possible dates or impossible dates and shall explain the reasons why this candidature shall be considered as valuable for the 470 Class and for the organising country or area; this letter shall also state and show evidence that no existing national law or regulation might prevent one or some National 470 Class Associations to take part in the Championship;
2) a letter duly signed by the President of the proposed Organizing Authority acknowledging that she/he has read the 470 Class Championships Organisation Manual and that she/he agrees on applying it for the proposed organisation; if any, this letter shall list all departures from the requirements of the Manual that the proposed Organizing Authority would like to introduce or discuss, and provide rationale accordingly (refer to the typical applicant form);
3) a presentation of the proposed Organizing Authority: venue, name and type (Sailing Club, group of Clubs, other types), number of members, financial turnover, facilities ashore, available equipment for regattas, description of the race area (map, wind conditions, currents, traffic, …);
4) a presentation of the references and experience of the proposed Organizing Authority in the organisation of similar events;
5) an estimate of the total budget needed for the proposed organisation, and the associated financial plan expected by the Organizing Authority (entry fees, subsidies, sponsorship fees, merchandising, others);
6) any additional information and comments that you feel necessary to give to complete your bid.
Bids have to be sent before 1st October 2008 to 470 Internationale (Secretary General postal or e-mail addresses).
